Cobb Creek wildfire in Jarrell grows to nearly 300 acres
A spokesperson for Williamson County said there were no evacuations and no homes have been threatened.
JARRELL, Texas — Crews are battling a 286-acre fire off Cobb Creek Road near Jarrell.
The National Wildfire Coordinating Group said the fire did threaten at least five buildings, but crews were able to save them.
At around 6 p.m. Wednesday, a spokesperson for Williamson County said there were no evacuations in place. The fire started just after 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
As of 3:30 p.m. Saturday, about 95% of the fire had been contained. Crews were able to build a containment line to help decrease the acreage of the fire.
The Jarrell Fire Department is leading the firefighting efforts. Crews from at least 17 agencies are helping tackle the fire.
Crews continued to make progress on the fire overnight Wednesday into Thursday by building fireline. Additional resources arrived on Thursday to assist with suppression efforts.
Video sent to KVUE from viewer Angela Baldo, filmed going westbound on CR 487 near CR 234, showed a large plume of smoke from the fire.
